Golden Moments - Golden Jubliee Celebration (13/8/2001 - 19/8/2001)
Department of Zoology of celebrated its golden jubliee in the year 2001 - 2002. Zoology department has conducted a science exhibition from 13 Aug 2001 to 19 Aug 2001. More than 45,000 people including 30,000 students had witnessed our exhibition. Dinosaur, in its mamooth size, was a treat to watch. Exhibits of preserved KingCobra, bear, tiger & panther have created tremendous interest inside the minds of the public. A readymade forest ecosystem has attracted repeated audience. A Scientific marvel involving conversion of male into female evoked great response. Intoto, an exhibition of style & substance, science & social responsibility reached the unreached in Tuticorin.
UGC SPONSORED REFRESHER COURSE ON COASTAL AQUACULTURE - IT'S PROSPECTS AND FUTURE (5.11.2003 to 25.11.2003)
An UGC sponsored Refresher course was conducted by the department of zoology for 21 days on (5.11.2003 to 25.11.2003) “COASTAL AQUACULTURE – ITSʼ PROSPECTS AND FUTURE”. 24 faculty members from various colleges participated in the course. The course was inaugurated on 5.11.2003 by Dr. T. Subramaniam D.Sc, F.N.A.S, Emeritus, Madras University. Dr. T. J. Pandian Emeritus Professor was one of the dynamic resource persons of this course.

Department of Zoology conducted National Seminar on Impact of Coastal Pollution and Biological Fertility. Mr. Prakash IAS, Subcollector Tuticorin has inagurated the Event. Shri. A.P.C.V. Chockalingam, Hon. Secretary VOC College has emphasised the importance of Coastal conservation. Eminent Proffessors from various of our country have delivered lectures and 80 participants benefitted from this programme.
Seminar on 'Health is Wealth' (25.08.2010)
Department of Zoology organized seminar on Health is Wealth on 25 August 2010. The seminar sets into different pitch with inputs from eminent doctors like Dr.Lakshmanan, Consultant Physician, Dr.Kumarasamy, Opthomologist,Dr. Arul Prakash, Endocrinologist, Dr.Neelambujan, Cardiologist and Mrs. Arthy, Gynocologist.

The feature is green energy, sustainability and renewable energy- Arnold Schwazzneggr
Need of the hour is awareness on renewable energy and its impact on human race. State level Seminar on renewable energy has augured well for those who view energy in different prism. 80 participants from various colleges have got benefited. Dr. Suriya Moorthy and Dr. Muthu Chezhian former Vice Chancellor address the gathering in an impeccable way.
TNSCST SPONSORED TRAINING PROGRAMMME ON SEAWEED AS A NUTRIENT DIET AND ANTIBACTERIAL DRUG FOR CULTIVABLE FISHES – (09.07.2014 TO 11.07.2014)
The site of the seaweed is a fabulous sound to the inhabitant of the land. Hands on training was ably handled by experts for the benefit of public and student community.

Taking cue from Tagore, Dept of Zoology conducted 3 day symposium on Marine Environmental Conservation from 10 Dec 2014 to 12 Dec 2014. This symposium has highlighted diverse and positive roles that marine conservation play in reinvigorating excellent ecosystems. Dr.sukumar, Dean, Fisheries College and Research Institute has delivered a pulsating speech which inspired students to take up many measures to preserve marine ecosystems.This event was sponsored by DST & TNSCST. More than 50 participants were benefitted.

It was a reunion of friends after many many years. VOC alumini day was celebrated on 5 July 2015. Three hundered thirty Zoology alumini have shared their love, kindness and success stories among themselves. They have recalled very happy memories, unforgettable moments and fun full treasures. When these treasures are given to each other, all the alumini were visibly delighted. It was real treat to see our old students. We never count the years they count memories… Yes Memories make life more interesting.

Our department wants to collaborate with people we can learn from. Two Lativian scientists Dr. Mattiss Zagars and Mr. Kalvis Grinralds share their knowledge with the young turks of our department and in term they have learned newer methods of research from us.
COASTAL VILLAGE AWARENESS PROGRAMME (11.10.2017)
Department of Zoology in association with Ministry of Environment, New Delhi & Arumbugal Trust have conducted coastal village awareness cultural events on 11 October 2017. Hundred fifty students and 20 teachers attended. This programme has thrown light on the dangers faced by Gulf of Mannar.
EYE DONATION AWARENESS CAMP (27.09.2018)
“Eye donation changes the ending up someone’s story.”
Our students may become a rainbow in someone else’s life. The Department of Zoology & Lions Club of Tuticorin have conducted a massive eye donation awareness programme. Past governors of Lions club & President of Lions club (2018 - 2019) & Many doctors have addressed the students. Dr. Ganesan, Lions club of Sivakasi, described the importance of Eye Donation and its impact on society. 150 students were benefited from this programme.
Young Student Scientist Programme(YSSP) (24.12.2018 - 07.01.2019)
Department of Zoology, V.O.Chidambaram College conducted a 15 days Young Student Scientist Programme(YSSP) sponsored by Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology from 24.12.2018- 07.01.2019 . 80 students of 40 Government schools from Thoothukudi and Ramanathapuram Districts participated. Dr.Radhika , Head , Department of Zoology was the programme co-ordinator
